Disability Law

The term disability usually signifies incapacity to exercise all the legal rights ordinarily possessed by an average person. Convicts, minors, and incompetents are regarded to be under a disability. The term is also used in a more restricted sense when it indicates a hindrance to marriage or a deficiency in legal qualifications to hold office. Say the word “disability,” and people often think of the most obvious types of disabilities; – mobility impairments that require a person to use a various Disability Products, or perhaps visual or hearing impairments. are But disabilities may be physical or cognitive, may be readily observed or “hidden” (such as epilepsy, arthritis, and diabetes), and may result from a variety of causes.
The Indian disability law treats disability as civil rights rather than a health and welfare issue. The law recognizes the importance of consultation with disabled people on issues, which directly or indirectly affect them
The DLC also advocates for public policy and due to the DLC’s status as a protection and advocacy agency for people with disabilities, the law center has statutory powers to defend and protect these individuals. The Disability Law Center tries to seek order in a society where all individuals have the opportunity to be treated as equals with dignity and respect.
The Equality Act also provides rights for people not to be directly discriminated against or harassed because they have an association with a disabled person. This can apply to a career or parent of a disabled person. The disabled person makes life more comfortable by using disability products like Wheelchairs,Hearing aids etc. people must not be directly discriminated against or harassed because they are wrongly perceived to be disabled.
