Tilt wheelchairs

Tilt wheelchairs provide infinite positioning options. wheelchairs are available with both fixed tilt and adjustable tilt in space options. Tilting wheelchairs help reducing risk of pressure sores, increase comfort, and sitting tolerance of children.Tilt-in-space simply means the patient is rotated instead of reclined. A Tilt Wheelchair (Tilt-in-Space) actually rotates in place which lets the patient maintain eye contact with others.

wheelchairs are available in standard folding frames with extended head supports and seat widths up to 24" wide.  The recline mechanism is attendant operated with levers much like a bicycle brake lever.  The levers operate hydraulic (pump) mechanisms for a smooth adjustment.  Using this reclining mechanism, the chair back can easily and frequently be positioned to any angle.Tilt Wheelchairs are Manual Wheelchairs which incorporate a Tilt mechanism with a center of gravity compensation by employing a rotary actuator. The actuator is secured to the underside of the seat and has an arm pivotally secured to the frame.

The biggest benefit of tilting wheelchairs is they change the pressure points on the body depending on the amount of tilt used. The biggest benefit of power tilt wheelchair is the wheelchair user can operate the tilt feature themselves. Normally the tilt function is operated through the joystick or other drive control however some people aren't able to access their drive controls when tilted, For these people switches can be mounted on the chair to operate the tilt. Usually these switches are mounted on the headrest but they can also mounted for activation by the knee, foot, elbow or other part of the body.
