Receiver-In-Canal (RIC)

Receiver-in-canal (RIC)model of hearing aids which is an innovation, specially designed for minimal to sever hearing loss. These hearing aids are available in digital technology and partially invisible. The receiver of the RIC (the loudspeaker) is placed in the ear-tip, thereby reducing its size.

The receiver-in-canal (RIC) model is a newer development in hearing aids and is suitable for mild to severe hearing loss. The RIC model consists of three parts: The housing, which sits behind the ear, and a thin earwire connecting the housing to the receiver. The receiver goes directly into the ear canal.
The RIC model is a very discreet, yet powerful hearing aid, which works fully automatically.

Type of hearing aids

Due to technology, hearing aids are now made more durable and comfortable. Manufacturers have made them smaller and easier to use and they are able to provide a better sound quality. Moreover, hearing-aid technology has made major strides in recent years, most notably with the development of very small open-fit digital hearing aids. In loud social settings, the most challenging environment for hearing-aid users, survey participants reported more improvement with those aids, which don't plug up the ear canal, over other styles that use earmolds, custom-shaped inserts that fit tightly in the ear canal.

Hearing Aid Types
  • Body Aids
  • Behind-the-ear (BTE)
  • In-the-ear(ITE)
  • In-the-canal(ITC)
  • Completely-in-canal(CIC)
  • CROS and biCROS
Recent hearing aids include wireless hearing aids. One hearing aid can transmit to the other side so that pressing one aid's program button simultaneously changes the other aid and both aids change background settings simultaneously. FM listening systems are now emerging with wireless receivers integrated with the use of hearing aids.

Transport Wheelchairs

Transport wheelchairs which have small wheels as well as light frames are ideal for transporting individuals from their house to any point they want. They are narrow than standard wheelchairs making them a superior preference for very restricted hallways and constricted doorways around any place
Wheelchairs

wheelchairs are most often propelled either manually or automatically. The earliest wheelchairs were obviously propelled by manual power, electric wheelchairs being developed only in the 20th century. The first real transport chair was developed in England, in the year 1783, by a so-called John Dawson. This initial model was self propelled by pushing the large rear wheels.

Transport chair is easily folded, measuring before you buy is important, both for the user’s comfort and to be sure that a fully opened chair can pass through doorways and hallways inside your home.
Transport wheelchairs are commonly used in hospitals, doctor's offices, and similar medical facilities for taking patients back and forth to treatment rooms or for x-rays and other testing and usually will weigh less than 25 pounds.
Transport chairs are much lighter than regular wheelchairs. In fact, some are considered ultra-lightweight, coming in at just over 14 pounds. Even the average transport chair is still less than 20 pounds.

There are also transport wheelchairs that have footrests and arm rests. Such added features make transport wheelchairs advantageous and highly useful. Now, there is a rising number of transport wheelchairs that are praised and preferred because of such comforting features.

Transport wheelchairs provide the following advantages:

    Fold-Down Backrest for Compact Storage
Full Length, Fixed Padded Arm Rests
    Heel Loops Included
Cost less ($200+) then most heavy-duty manual and electric wheelchairs
Cost less to maintain thanks to fewer complex parts

Solar Power Wheelchairs

There is many types of wheelchairs . One is Solar power wheelchair. Solar power, lots of sun, and a powerhouse sponsor move this wheelchair across the sands to a Guinness World Record.

Solar power is produced by collecting sunlight and converting it into electricity. This is done by using solar panels, which are large flat panels made up of many individual solar cells. It is most often used in remote locations, although it is becoming more popular in urban areas.

Masdar, Abu Dhabi's renewable energy initiative, is sponsoring Haidar on his journey. "Masdar is very proud to sponsor Haidar and his mission to inspire millions of people across the UAE. We share passion and commitment for renewable energy and the sustainable use of resources," said Dr Nawal Al Hosany, Director of Sustainability at Masdar.

Haidar has already travelled part of the UAE with his first prototype of the solar-powered wheelchairs, which he presented to the Young Future Energy Leaders (YFEL), a Masdar Institute initiative – part of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in 2010. Haidar will also participate as a speaker in next year’s YFEL in January 2011.
