Type of hearing aids

Due to technology, hearing aids are now made more durable and comfortable. Manufacturers have made them smaller and easier to use and they are able to provide a better sound quality. Moreover, hearing-aid technology has made major strides in recent years, most notably with the development of very small open-fit digital hearing aids. In loud social settings, the most challenging environment for hearing-aid users, survey participants reported more improvement with those aids, which don't plug up the ear canal, over other styles that use earmolds, custom-shaped inserts that fit tightly in the ear canal.

Hearing Aid Types
  • Body Aids
  • Behind-the-ear (BTE)
  • In-the-ear(ITE)
  • In-the-canal(ITC)
  • Completely-in-canal(CIC)
  • CROS and biCROS
Recent hearing aids include wireless hearing aids. One hearing aid can transmit to the other side so that pressing one aid's program button simultaneously changes the other aid and both aids change background settings simultaneously. FM listening systems are now emerging with wireless receivers integrated with the use of hearing aids.

Solar Power Wheelchairs

There is many types of wheelchairs . One is Solar power wheelchair. Solar power, lots of sun, and a powerhouse sponsor move this wheelchair across the sands to a Guinness World Record.

Solar power is produced by collecting sunlight and converting it into electricity. This is done by using solar panels, which are large flat panels made up of many individual solar cells. It is most often used in remote locations, although it is becoming more popular in urban areas.

Masdar, Abu Dhabi's renewable energy initiative, is sponsoring Haidar on his journey. "Masdar is very proud to sponsor Haidar and his mission to inspire millions of people across the UAE. We share passion and commitment for renewable energy and the sustainable use of resources," said Dr Nawal Al Hosany, Director of Sustainability at Masdar.

Haidar has already travelled part of the UAE with his first prototype of the solar-powered wheelchairs, which he presented to the Young Future Energy Leaders (YFEL), a Masdar Institute initiative – part of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in 2010. Haidar will also participate as a speaker in next year’s YFEL in January 2011.

Variety of Electric wheelchairs

There are many types of Wheelchairs.A wheelchair is a chair with wheels, designed to be a replacement for walking.Electric-powered wheelchair (EPW) is a wheelchair that is moved around by means of an electric motor and navigational controls rather than manual power. It is also called motorized wheelchair, powerchair, electric wheelchair. The electric wheelchair can be used for a number of purposes including cooking, shopping, climbing a hill and so forth.

The invention of these chairs is known to be a major breakthrough in the history of mankind. Controlled by a number of batteries, the power chairs have many advantages which make it so popular among people today
electric wheelchairs are great in improving the mobility of the user, but there are more considerations to be taken into account when choosing yours. The design should be right for your particular needs, and the electric wheelchair should provide as great a degree of comfort as possible as they are a means of expressing a new life for the user.

The great advantage of electirc wheelchair is that handicapped person needs nobodies help and so has the freedom.Power wheelchairs are generally powered with a set of batteries that provides the required power to move the wheelchair causing less physical exertion. The batteries come in three types: wet-cell, gel-cell and AGM (absorbed glass mat).Wheelchair is one type of Disability Products.

The different types of Power wheelchairs are as follows:

Heavy Duty Power Wheelchairs:
This type of electric wheelchairs have a compact size that fit in spaces like narrow doorways. These lightweight frames can easily be folded or disassembled into manageable pieces which have made them the easiest and lightest among the powerchairs.

Powerbase Power Wheelchairs:
Powerbase powerchairs also offer suspension, driving, seating and handling easily and effectively. Generally, the center of gravity of these chairs is low, thus making ones ride smooth, stable and safe. These types of powerchairs require transportation using lifts and ramps as they generally don't fold or disassemble.

Transportable Power Wheelchairs:
The torque of theses heavy power wheelchairs can be increased over standard power wheelchairs by the help of large motors and long frames.
The light weighted transportable wheelchair is the most popular electric wheelchair that can be dismantled easily. It is suitable for narrow halls and has swift turning facilities

Front Wheel Drive:
The electric wheelchair which is front wheel driven is known to have excellent turning capabilities but offer less speed compared to the other power wheelchairs.

Center Wheel Drive:

Rear Wheel Drive:
The rear wheel power wheelchairs are durable and strong which makes it suitable for outdoor travels.
More suitable for smooth surfaces, the mid wheel driven power wheelchairs have unique and distinctive turning capabilities.
This is also the fastest and most common electric wheelchair.

Powerchairs may be designed for indoor, outdoor or indoor/outdoor use. Some indoor chairs may actually resemble a conventional armchair and have neglibible ability to deal with obstacles. Indoor/outdoor chairs generally give more consideration to their size and the need to navigate within a home environment than do outdoor chairs.

Some very large outdoor powerchairs have been designed with cross-country mobility in mind and show design convergence with other types of cross-country vehicle
There are many disabled people that have used electric wheelchairs in international sports and been successful as well. Lightweight Wheelchairs

There are many different types of wheelchairs that are powered or manual. Choosing the one that will work best for the type of person you are and the lifestyle you lead is a simple matter of comparing them with each other. Those who are not able to spend the money to purchase a power wheel chair can use a lightweight wheelchair.

wheelchair are one of the Disability Products for the disable people. The lightweight wheelchairs are the best in the market and most of the lightweight wheelchairs are used during the weakness. The survey proves that majority of the people above the age group of 65 uses the lightweight wheelchair. Generally, they move slowly but some of them are equipped with the electric start as well. The electric start makes the job easier and move so briskly on the road that even the handicapped person feel that they are moving on the smoothest pavement without any difficulty.

Aluminum or titanium is used to make lightweight chairs and make them easier to move around in as well as transport with them wherever they go. The one problem with lightweight chairs is that they can only handle so much weight.

These lightweight wheelchairs come in both the rigid and the folding varieties. They are however made from titanium, which is lightweight, strong and more durable. The metal also has some shock absorbing properties. These are more expensive then the other varieties and they take longer to custom build, but they are the most luxurious choice for both rigid and folding lightweight wheelchairs

It's also easier to push a lightweight wheelchair around and to lift it up and down the stairs. Lightweight chairs are usually smaller and much more compact than folding chairs, thus making it easier to maneuver them in tight spaces. They are also a lot more responsive than folding chairs. A lightweight wheelchair is typically a good choice for those who have an active lifestyle. As a matter of fact, there are lightweight wheelchairs that are specially designed for sports

There is lightweight wheelchairs power, they still tend to be much heavier compared to lighter wheelchairs. The cost of lightweight wheelchairs vary widely. In fact, it can be priced between $ 200 to $ 800 for more advanced features. lightweight wheelchairs are generally constructed of aluminum. The design of this type of wheelchair is usually minimal, with a greater focus on just the basic features, so you get the wheelchair lighter and more compact as possible.

Lightweight wheelchairs come in different types with varying frame structures. Wheelchairs with rigid frames, the lightest of the three types, feature a folding back for easy transport

The majority of lightweight wheelchairs will have a higher price tage than other traditional ones. While price is an issue to consider, there are incredible benefits to having a light chair. Having a lightweight chair that is not hard to get around in makes travel in car, coach, and plane way less stressful than it would be in a large, 20 kg chair. Everyone who uses a wheelchair should take time to think about their personal needs and pick a chair that fits those. Lighweight wheelchairs offer a wealth of benefits with a wheelchair that is durable and adaptable, with numerous opportunities to be personalised to meet each individual need.

A folding lightweight wheelchair is a good choice for occasional use as they can easily be folded and stored when not required or being transported. As the rear wheels will usually be removable then it can be stored in a very small space.

Folding ultra lightweight wheelchairs are available in many different sizes, but often do not offer the specialized features that a prescribed wheelchair can offer to you.
