Pediatric wheelchairs

Pediatric wheelchairs are designed for children. Children require the use of a wheelchair for different reasons - some have suffered head injuries, some have muscular dystrophy or cerebral palsy, some are amputees. The pediatric wheelchair should be a single component in a complete support program designed to serve your child's needs, strengths and environment.

Wheelchairs helps make walking around the neighborhood and getting around the city a little smoother. The resulting configurations let caregivers interact with the child while positioning the wheels to optimally cover varying terrain. Additional adjustments come from the height-adjustable handle bar and seat.Motorized wheelchairs, or electric wheelchairs, are also made in pediatric sizes, but are often custom designed for individuals. These chairs are much more costly, and while manual chairs can often grow with the child, motorized chairs tend to need replacement more frequently.

Pediatric wheelchairs offer many of the same features and benefits of adult chairs and come in the same overall styles with the exception of bariatric. The one difference found in pediatric wheelchiars is they are usually designed to grow larger with the child. This growth usually requires ordering parts but some models are designed to grow in width and/or depth without the need for new parts.
